Hello friends, and welcome once again, we hope that you are very well. We’re here with another diary entry for you on life and times at our Eridge vineyard, so make yourself comfortable, it’s fika time.
We are now in final days the ‘monitoring, watching and waiting’ phase which always precedes the grape harvest. Recent years have seen us bring our precious fruit in at the beginning of the October, so it taking place at the end of the month is quite a difference, but not one which we expect will impact the crop.
Pinot Noir in particular looks more happy than ever this year, with a really good weight of fruit – it has just taken longer to reach ripneness this year. The main impact is that our harvest teams will now likely have to wear waterproofs and wellies when they pick!
Now from the grapes which will go into creating beautiful future wines, to a special and newly available sparkling wine ready for your glasses. This month we were absolutely thrilled to see the editor of Decanter Magazine – the worlds leading wine magazine – tasting and recommending our new-released debut Magnum immediately!
Amy Wislocki selected it for her ‘In my glass this month’ Editor’s feature, describing Cuvée Brut Magnum 2020 as “perfect autumnal drinking”! A blend of 30% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir, and 30% Pinot Meunier, this wine has seen 45 months on its lees, producing a wonderful complexity that we hope you will find highly interesting and enjoyable.
This has put us in a celebratory mood, we would like to share. As members of our valued community you can now use the code ‘1stMagnum’ at checkout for a 20% reduction at checkout – on all of our wines. You are very welcome! This code can be used on any purchase of over £70.00, and is valid until 28th October.
Speaking of community, we were pleased to support the Swedish School in Londonrecently by sponsoring the launch of ‘The World is Our Oyster’, a campaign highlighting the stories of its graduates.
The exhibition celebrated the remarkable life and career stories of 17 of their alumni over the past 4 decades. At the 100+ person launch party their buzzing alumni enjoyed our Brut Cuvée 2019. Congratulations to their team on a highly successful event!
In more press news, our flagship sparking wine Cuvée Brut 2019 received attention from another top wine writer recently. How wonderful to see this review (pictured) by the brilliant and highly respected Matthew Jukes.
He included this wine as part of a write up of the Yapp Brothers Autumn tasting. As he advises in his overall notes on the event… “Every bottle mentioned is a cracker, so load up now”.
Finally we will finish up with a special sparkling wine and food pairing – our Blanc de Blancs 2018 and the Swedish delicacy Löjrom. Sometimes compared to caviar, but a stunning golden orange colour, this is the roe from a small salmon species harvested specifically from the Bothnian Bay archipelago in Northern Sweden. A spectacular pairing!
